Rabokki Recipe
When I started dating my boyfriend I barely knew much about Korean foods nor have I tried some.
Then we both decided to start making one, well, of course, the easy version. That's why he decided to teach me how to make some Rabokki. Take note that this is not the same as the other RABOKKI you see online. This recipe is our own version since we didn't have some ingredients.
WHAT IS RABOKKI?
Ra-bokki (라볶이) is a type of tteok-bokki (stir-fried rice cakes), with added ramyeon noodles. It is a street food commonly sold in bunsikjip (snack bars).
As other tteok-bokki dishes, fish cakes and boiled eggs are a common addition. Cream sauce or western-style chili sauce may be used instead of gochujang(chili paste).
The standard ingredients that go into Rabokki are Korean rice cakes, ramen, Korean fish cakes, cabbage leaves, spicy sauce and hard boiled eggs (to top it up).

DIRECTIONS
pre-packaged or frozen teok and let it sit and boil for 5 mins, then separate first then soak in warm water for 10 minutes before using.
2. Combine all the ingredients for the sauce in a medium pot or pan, 2 1/2 tbsp of Gochujang, 1 tbsp of Soy sauce, 1 1/2 tbsp of brown sugar, 1 big cooking spoon of Corn syrup, Ramyeon seasoning powder, 1 cup of sliced cabbage (sliced thinly), defrosted teok, add 1 cup of fish cakes (chopped into small rectangular pieces) and stir around occasionally.
3. Boil if over medium-high heat (we used a medium sized pan and an induction stove), then add ramyeon noodles and stir well and occasionally.
4. Once the broth starts to boil, reduce the heat to medium-low. Add the rest of the ingredients (if you prefer to add more or different kinds of additional dishes inside), stir around occasionally.
5. Add the sesame seeds and cheese or your other preferred garnish ingredients.
NOTE
- If you want to eat Rabokki spicier, then adjust the sauce ratio by reducing gochujang (Korean chili paste) and increasing gochugaru (Korean chili flakes).
